This is our Prelim task, we chose this song as a group as it was a song that we are all passionate about and also we felt that Ale performed it the best therefore he is the performer in the video. Some parts of the video were too hard for us to film therefore we just left the original video in with these parts, however I felt that we worked really hard on this task especially with the editing as we had to try to get the same colour effects as the original video which was a tricky task. As a group I feel that we worked well together to ensure that we met the deadline and got all of the footage that we could in the time period, I also felt that we worked hard with the editing.
Evaluation of Prelim
1. Who did you work with and how did you manage the task between you?
For this task, I worked with Ale and Faith. We decided that Ale would be the main star in the video as we knew that he was very passionate about the song we had chosen (Live Forever by Oasis). We decided that Faith would be the camera lady and also the producer. We decided that I would do most of the editing for the group.
2. How did you plan your sequence? What processes did you use?
A lot of planning went into making this music video, we knew that we were going to need quite a few props that may be tricky to get a hold of, for example we needed a pick axe which none of us had, but luckily we were able to borrow one from the school caretaker. We made a shooting schedule which helped us to know exactly what shots we needed at what time in the video. We also made a storyboard which was a big help to us when filming. We ad to make sure that we had the correct costumes for the music video and we also had to make sure that we had the correct locations to film in.
3. What theories could you apply to the video you chose?
4. What technologies did you use to complete the task and how did you use it?
I used premiere to edit my music video, it was very simple and to use this software as it has many different effects that matched the original music video which we needed to add in. With this software we were able to put the original music video and our music video that we made on the screen at the same time so that we can compare them.
5.What factors did you have to take into account when planning, shooting and editing?
When planning, we had to ensure that we had the correct locations to film in and also that we had permission to film in these places. We also had to make sure that the locations were safe to film in, for example we had to make sure that the area was clear when we were filming with the pick axe. When editing we had to make sure that we had all of the correct footage. We also had to make sure that our footage matched with the original footage.
6. How successful was your music video copy? Please identify what worked well, and with hindsight, what would you improve/do differently? What did others say about your production?
I think that our music video was quite successful, this is because we got all of the footage other than a small clip. We managed to get the effects like the original which was a bit of a challenge however we managed to do it. I feel that he filming went well as we worked quite quickly to get it all complete. To improve next time I think that we should ensure we get all of the footage complete within good time so that we have a lot of tie to edit and don't have to rush too much. Others said that our music video was very effective as it had many different effects within it.
7. What have you learnt from completing this task? Looking ahead, how will this learning be significant when completing your music video, do you think?
From completing this task, I think that I will be able to put a lot of editing skills into my new music video next year as I feel that I have learnt a lot more skills from this task.
8. How does it compare with filming an opening for a film?
It was very different from our film opening task, this is because there was a lot more pressure on the star in the video, this is because they have to lip sync which is quite a hard task. Also, the filming and editing is quite a bit harder because we have to make sure that the video matched the original video perfectly and also that the lip syncing matched the original.
9. What are your strengths and weaknesses as a group member?
As a group member I feel that I am the type of person who is in charge of the group this is because I am quite confident, I also feel that I had quite an important role in this group as the editor of the video.
10. Looking at the other groups which did you think was the most successful and why?
I thought that Sophie, Ant and Leah's groups music video was the best, I felt this because the song they chose was very upbeat and enjoyable and I also felt that they matched every clip in their video to the original music video, they also got all of the effects perfect.

Production Diary for Prelim
26/06/17- Today we had to research songs that we wanted to
do our music video on. We wanted to choose a song that was simple but also a
bit challenging. We decided on the music video for Ariana Grande’s song ‘The
Way’.
27/06/17- We decided today that the music video for the song
by Ariana was going to be slightly too challenging for us to film at school,
this was due to their being two lots of filming at one time and we felt that we
didn’t have the proper tools to be able to film and edit this correctly. Therefore,
we chose the song ‘Live Forever’ by Oasis, this is because we felt that this
music video would be a lot easier for us to film and edit within the deadline
that we had been given for this task.
28/06/17- Today we created a list of all of the props that
we need for the music video, this included: axe, shovel, rounded black
sunglasses, all black outfit, chair. We also created screen grabs from the
original music video for the 30 seconds that we are copying.
29/06/17- Today we started to film our music video, we
managed to film the parts of the music video where he was singing in front of
the bush, where he was playing the guitar and also some of the close ups of him
singing.
03/07/17- Today we managed to film the last few bits of our
music video, we filmed the shots with the axe and the shovel in the
surroundings of our school, this was lucky that we found an area which matched
the original video quite well and we didn’t have to travel very far to film it.
We also managed to film the shots of him on the chair and also when the water
is poured over his head. We now need to start editing our music video to finish
it all off.
