Magazine Article Final

This is our final magazine article, this article was inspired by another by seventeen. This article focuses on information about us as a girl band and what our plans for the future are.

Billboard Interview

We visited the famous Billboard where we were interviewed and asked questions as a band. As well as these questions which were about our upcoming album and tour, we were also asked to do our best accents. This interview shows how we are a fun and loving girl band.

Music Video draft 4

This is our 4th music video trial, and although there has been a lot of changes and improvement, our audience and us still felt that it wasn't quite how we wanted it to be and that we could achieve more.

What is successful:
  • The video changes on the beat, this looks really good and makes the video more interesting
  • The colours promote the band image well and also incorporated synergy throughout all of the products
  • The transitions keep the viewer intrigued and work well when they are used
  • The use of editing has brought the boring sections to life

What can be improved:
  • The colour correction is not consistent throughout the whole video, makes it look unprofessional
  • The use of Vanilla at the start of the clip is a good way of promoting the band however it is hard to read
  • The quality of the clip is still very blurred, should try exporting it with different settings
  • The editing is used well but again not consistently, should be added in more to give off a better effect
  • Some of the faded-out effects simply made the video look of bad quality, I would choose another editing effect

Editing Inspirations

Firstly....

Whilst editing our music video, we reviewed other music videos of similar genres and we felt that they had some creative ideas in which we were lacking. Therefore, we researched into what makes a music video interesting and what kept the audience intrigued and came across these editing techniques that really engaged us to the music video and we thought they would fit perfectly with the shots that we had put together.

In our music video we realised that we hadn't included the name of our band or the name of the song. We wanted to make it easily accessible and noticeable that it was our music video therefore took inspiration from Miley Cyrus' video of 'Malibu'. It has the same fun loving vibe that we want to include in our video and also related to the balloon theme that we have included in our video.

Secondly...

Even though we had included shots of all three of us throughout the video, we realised that at the start of the video we didn't really have any shots where we were all on screen at the same time. Little Mix are a band that inspire us and are very similar to us and in their videos they had included a split screen where each of them can be seen. This would improve our video as all three of us would be introduced as united and it shows how together when we are singing we harmonise and make the song amazing.

Thirdly...

We felt that we were lacking in inventive transitions and this made the music video look very unprofessional. Little mix have always been a very well respected band and further through their video they included a very clever transition, again showing all of them and promoting their unity.

Each frame changes to the next singer, introducing the new shot, this makes it interesting and also more fun.
All of these improvements have helped develop our music video and have also helped to make our video look more professional, also we now feel that the video promotes our group as a girl band rather than just three girls and also this has helped to improve our band image.

Magazine Article Development

Below are two magazine articles which have been produced, and the final product is still underway. The first image is the closest to the final product, as there were a few problems with the second article. For example, it looked slightly like a poster and not a magazine article, there are no distinctive columns, it is not adapted in comparison to a normal magazine article and finally it had more of the vanilla band image rather than a magazine brand image. Therefore, many changes had to be made too it.

Merchandise

This is the merchandise which is available to buy on our website. We were inspired by Little Mix and Fifth Harmon, this is because they are also girl bands who have a similar target audience to us. By having merchandise it allows our fans to be able to show their love for us as a band and also it is advertisement.

Digipak Advert Research

This is our inspiration for our digipak advert. We liked this advert as it had a strong but subtle effect, this is as there isn't a lot of writing due to the pictures being so bold. As you can see the album cover is in the right hand bottom corner and both of the images on the advert link well together. You can then see the name of the album across the picture and then the names of some of the songs included within the album named in the bottom left hand corner.

This is our first draft of our digipak advert, as you can see we have a strong picture of us in the background which is slightly faded, but also it has the magenta tint overlay on it in order to match the Rihanna one as best as possible, but also to match our synergy colour of pastel pink. As you can see our advert almost matches the one of our inspiration, we have tried to make our album cover look like a stamp in the middle of the page in order to make it stand out and be bold. We also then have our logo at the top which stands out, and also both of the pictures link well together due to the outfits and the scenery around them.

Scene Inspirations 3

Balloons are generally associated with fun and special occasions, this is why when we saw Selena Gomez's video using the balloons we knew that we wanted to include them in our video. The balloons then became a big part of our video and our other products especially the colours we used.

Scene Inspirations 2

As a band we wanted to include country scenes into our music video such as the barn, the hay and the corn field, we felt that incorporating these scenes into our video would give our audience connotations on what genre our video was. The sun setting on the corn looked really good and gave an intense effect on our video.

Scene Inspirations

Taylor Swift's previous band image was country with a bit of pop which is the same as ours. In all of her old video she portrays a good image for herself and therefore sets a good example for younger girls, this is something which as a band we also wanted to try to do. We took inspiration from this scene of hers by introducing our faces to the video in a similar way, we did this of a mid shot of the upper body.

Digipak Feedback

This is the first draft of our Digipak, we wanted to bring across a fun, enthusiastic and friendly vibe whilst also using synergy to encompass all of our media together.

In the feedback we were told that -

It was good because:
  • It links in well with all of our other medias
  • The colour scheme works well - its bright and colourful so will attract our target audience( 12-30)
  • The pictures were cute
It was bad because:
  • The images seem squashed, they should be squares
  • The CD isn't a circle shape which is should be - again it has been squished
  • We are missing the writing of the production company on the back and a list of the songs
  • The "Vanilla by Vanilla" should be all across the band - it would look more interesting

This is a presentation of the planning of our interviews, it was important to plan what we were going to give away to our fans because we didn't want them to know too much as we wanted some parts to be a surprise.
